Maria Parrino

Maria Parrino, of Central Islip, New York, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at the age of 89. Born in Italy in 1937, Maria made Central Islip her home for most of her life and built a beautiful life centered around family, friendship, and love.
Maria was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Parrino Sr. She is survived by her sons, Anthony Parrino Jr., Peter Parrino and his wife Josephine, and Frank Parrino and his wife Cynthia. She was a cherished grandmother to Anthony Parrino and his wife Tracy, and Melissa Shapley and her husband Cody. She was a loving great-grandmother to Madison and Ava, and Evelyn and Hazel.
Maria is also survived by her sister, Giuessepa Cirrito, as well as her many nieces and nephew, extended family members, and dear family friends, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Pietro Polito and Rosalia Piccone, and her brothers, Phillip Polito and Francesco Polito.
Maria worked as a seamstress before becoming a homemaker and devoting herself to her family. She later enjoyed working at Polito’s Bakery, where her love of baking and cooking was a natural fit.
Maria was known for her sweet and kind nature. She had a welcoming heart and made everyone around her feel loved and at home. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, baking cookies, making chocolates, and preparing delicious meals for the people she loved. Above all, Maria treasured spending time with her family and friends and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Her warmth, generosity, kindness, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, family, and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Hauppauge, New York. Following the Mass, Maria will be laid to rest at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY 11590.
