Casilli, Marie (née Morgillo) passed away on April 18, 2026, just two months before her 100th birthday (June 21).
Marie was an amazing woman…kind, loving, generous and dedicated to God, her family and her friends - always giving of herself. She volunteered at the St. Joseph’s Food Kitchen, crocheted countless hats and blankets for preemie babies in the hospital, was a member of the St. Francis Cabrini Columbiettes and donated monthly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Marie was also known for being a lot of fun. She loved a good party - the more the merrier and she really loved her food! Wherever she was, if she heard music, you would see her dancing, even if it involved just her upper body! She so enjoyed games, like scrabble (online and in person) cards and Pokeno, although she could be a tad competitive!
Marie and her husband, Bob, raised an incredible family. But when she felt it was appropriate, she returned to the workplace. She took an entry level job at the King Kullen Corporate office but very quickly moved up to Executive Assistant to the VP of Operations. She loved those years and loved that job, but she was excited to take an early retirement and moved to a beautiful new home in PA where she and Bob built a wonderful social life with a new community of friends. Sadly she lost Bob 33 years ago and a few years after decided to move back to Long Island.
After that difficult loss, Marie stepped up and created a beautiful life with her 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild that was just welcomed into the family. With each addition her heart grew bigger.
Even when her health began to deteriorate, Marie never stopped trying to improve. She would put her walker to the side, hold on to a table and march in place. And when she couldn’t walk at all, she would exercise her legs in bed. She never gave up!
Marie’s children made the decision to care for her at home until the day her heart stilled. But although there were difficult times, it didn’t outweigh the privilege to care for her - a decision they will never regret and one they will always be grateful for. It was a blessing to be such an intimate part of her journey to a place of peace.
She was no doubt welcomed into heaven by her parents, Gelsomina and Alfonso Morgillo, husband Fabio (Bob) Casilli, brothers Joseph and Pellegrino (Pat) Morgillo and sister-in-law Mary Morgillo, brother and sister-in-law Val and Gloria Casilli, her son-in-laws Paul DePaoli, Raymond (Buddy) Elliott, and Doug Roth, grandson Matthew Ahrens, and all the family and dear friends who have gone before that she has sorely missed.
She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her five children, Linda (widow of Paul DePaoli), Jessica (widow of Raymond Elliott), Marguerite (widow of Doug Roth), Robert Casilli (daughter-in-law Allison) and Lisa (son-in-law Bill Ahrens), sister-in-law Joan Morgillo, her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren (and new great great-grandchild), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her many friends.
You have left a void that can never be filled and you will be missed every day, but we will carry you in our hearts always. Although you are gone, your legacy will live on forever.
