Mario Manopella

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mario “Matty” Manopella, who passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on July 18, 1948, in Brooklyn, Mario was the beloved son of Joseph “Doc” Manopella and Marie Minucci. He was a true old-school Italian—kind, charismatic, full of life, and someone who never met a stranger. He had an incredible sense of humor, a gift for conversation, and a way of making everyone around him feel welcome.

Above all else, Mario was a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend. He shared 43 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Laura, whose love and partnership were the foundation of a life filled with family, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Mario was a proud father to Joseph (Joanne) Manopella and Meredith Manopella, whom he shared with his former wife, Tina Lance, and to Madeline (Christopher) D’Errico and Nicholas (Desiree) Manopella, whom he shared with his beloved wife, Laura. Above all, Mario cherished his role as Papa to his seven grandchildren—Dale-Anthony, Michael, Emilie, Matthew, Elena, Jayson, and Serafina—who brought him immeasurable joy and were truly the light of his life.

He loved his family like no other. He was fiercely protective when he needed to be and incredibly sweet when the moment called for it. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. His love was big, his heart was generous, and his presence could fill a room.

Mario’s life was made up of the little moments that became the memories his family will treasure forever.

He will be remembered for his humor, his stories, his generosity, his larger-than-life personality, and, most of all, the unconditional love he had for his family.

Though his absence leaves an unimaginable void, we take comfort in knowing that he leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a piece of himself in everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Mario will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
