Mary Ellen Martino (“Mimi”), cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and everyone’s fast friend, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at the age of 70.
Born on May 11, 1955, in Mineola, New York, Mary Ellen lived a life defined by deep love and laughter. She had a special ability to find humor in any moment, in everything, and in everyone. There was never a person she met who remained a stranger for long as her quick wit and joyful spirit had a way of turning introductions into instant friendships and ordinary moments into celebrations.
Mary Ellen’s warmth and fun-loving nature were precious gifts to her family and friends, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her, even during some of her most challenging times. No matter the circumstance, she always made room for good jokes, playful pranks, and infectious belly laughter. She brought the party with her wherever she went.
Her greatest happiness came from looking forward to time spent having fun with the people she loved. While she delighted in creating new memories, she also cherished reminiscing about the laughter and good times they had shared in the past. In doing so, she formed deep and lasting connections with those around her. Through this gift, Mary Ellen taught everyone an enduring lesson in how to keep living, loving, and laughing, no matter what life brings.
Mary Ellen is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Martino, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Together, they were perfect partners in a joyful life, always generous in spirit and welcoming to all who crossed their path.
She was also a dedicated and loving mother to her son, Sal and her daughter, Melissa. Her nurturing spirit extended to her son-in-law Thomas whom she welcomed into the family with open arms. Mary Ellen’s pride and joy were her grandchildren Deanna, Angelina, April and Alexandra.
She is further survived by her sister Diane and her brothers Billy, Timmy, and Michael; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gracie and Tommy; her sisters-in-law Leonora, Joann, Diane, Kim, Linda, Cheryl and Janet; and her many nieces and nephews who loved and adored her.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Janet Ferro; her brothers Dennis, Kevin, and Keith; and her brother-in-law's Vinny and John.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched. Mary Ellen left an indelible mark of laughter, love, and a wonderfully spirited sense of fun that will never fade but instead shine on in our hearts.
