Michael Joseph Harvey
November 30, 1956 – August 24, 2025
Michael Joseph Harvey, 68, of Islip, New York, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 30, 1956, to the late Norman E. Harvey and Caroline E. Harvey, Michael grew up as the son of a proud veteran, traveling the world and living in France, Japan, and Taiwan before settling in New York.
Michael was a veteran of the United States Air Force and carried his pride of service throughout his life. For 25 years, he was employed as an estimator with Asplundh Construction, where his hard work, dedication, and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Anna Harvey; his stepdaughter, Helen Wharton; cherished siblings Paula Y. Wells (husband James) and Joseph P. Harvey; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored their “Uncle Mike.” He was predeceased by his sister Deborah L. Harvey, his beloved parents and stepdaughter Bianca Rosado.
Michael will be remembered as generous, kind-hearted, and deeply devoted to his family. He was an avid reader, a music lover, dedicated in his work, a man with a dry sense of humor and a lifelong animal lover who gave a home to many cats in need over the years. He loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family- often hosting holiday meals and family poker games. Though notoriously stubborn at times, his strength and determination were matched only by his compassion and loyalty to those he loved.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moloney’s Bohemia Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Moloney’s Bohemia Funeral Home, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Michael’s memory to a local animal shelter, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org), or by planting a tree in his honor.
Michael’s life was defined by love of family, pride in service, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
