Milagro Del Carmen Fernandez Fernandez, 46, of Brentwood, NY, passed away on November 16, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with angiosarcoma. She was surrounded by the love of her lifelong partner, Santos N. Pineda Cruz, who remained by her side until her final moments.

Milagro was born on July 20, 1979, to Esteban and Ilma Fernandez in Piedra Parada, El Salvador. At a very young age, Milagro sacrificed her education to help raise her siblings–twelve children in all–caring for each one with boundless devotion. Throughout her life, she was lovingly regarded as a second mother to them, always attentive, always giving, and always ensuring their needs were met, no matter their age or circumstance. Although she completed only the first grade, Milagro possessed a natural gift for teaching and often helped others learn to read and write in Spanish. She continued to study English in adulthood, learning eagerly and with admirable determination. In every new interest that she dove into, she was an enthusiastic student driven by her own merits.

In the late 1990s, Milagro immigrated to the United States to provide for her family in El Salvador and seek a better future for herself and future children. She worked in production roles at pharmaceutical factories, where her warmth, humor, and radiant spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She loved to cook, make jokes, sing, and dance. Milagro was the living and breathing heart of her household. She made sure to glue everyone back together after discourse and always believed it was best to forgive and love unconditionally rather than hold grudges or treat others harshly. She always preferred putting others before herself because of her great love for them. Milagro was never cold. Her soul was soft, warm, and bright–a combination that is extraordinarily hard to find and is now dearly missing from the world.

In 1999, Milagro met Santos, with whom she built a loving family. She is survived by their three children—Evelyn, Nelson O., and Roy A. Pineda—all of whom were the center of her life. In her last days, she reflected fondly on her early years as a mother and expressed how fulfilling this role had been for her overall happiness. Milagro was a nurturing and involved mother who encouraged her children to pursue paths they were passionate about and dedicated herself to their success. She was a lover of adventure–always taking her children and her beloved dog, Chucho, to parks, beaches, and any entertainment events that promised fun or discovery. She also loved her two chickens and treasured her memories, frequently capturing countless moments through photos and videos.

She touched the lives of many with her lighthearted sense of humor, unsurpassable empathy, and inviting nature. Milagro was a generous daughter, friend, lover, and mother who built strong relationships wherever she went and fought fiercely for those she loved until her last breath.

Visitations will be held at Moloney Funeral Home in Central Islip, NY, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.

Milagro nació el 20 de julio de 1979, hija de Esteban e Ilma Fernandez, en Piedra Parada, El Salvador. A lo largo de su vida, fue considerada con profundo cariño como una segunda madre para ellos: siempre atenta, siempre generosa y siempre asegurándose de que sus necesidades estuvieran cubiertas, sin importar la edad o la circunstancia. Aunque solo completó el primer grado, Milagro tenía un don natural para enseñar y a menudo ayudaba a otros a leer y escribir en español. Continuó estudiando inglés en la adultez, aprendiendo con entusiasmo y admirable determinación. En cada nuevo interés que emprendía, era una estudiante apasionada, motivada por su propio esfuerzo.

A finales de los años noventa, Milagro emigró a los Estados Unidos para apoyar a su familia en El Salvador y buscar un futuro mejor para sí misma y para sus futuros hijos. Trabajó en producción en fábricas farmacéuticas, donde su calidez, humor y espíritu radiante dejaron una impresión duradera en todos los que tuvieron el placer de conocerla. Le encantaba cocinar, hacer bromas, cantar y bailar. Milagro era el corazón vivo de su hogar. Siempre procuraba unir a todos nuevamente después de cualquier desacuerdo y creía firmemente que era mejor perdonar y amar incondicionalmente que guardar rencores o tratar con dureza. Siempre prefería poner a los demás antes que a sí misma por el gran amor que les tenía. Milagro nunca fue fría; su alma era suave, cálida y brillante, una combinación extraordinariamente difícil de encontrar y que hoy hace una falta inmensa en el mundo.

En 1999, Milagro conoció a Santos, con quien formó una familia llena de amor. Le sobreviven sus tres hijos—Evelyn, Nelson O. y Roy A. Pineda—quienes fueron el centro de su vida. En sus últimos días, ella recordó con ternura sus primeros años como madre y expresó lo profundamente satisfactorio que había sido ese papel para su felicidad. Milagro fue una madre cariñosa y dedicada que animaba a sus hijos a seguir caminos que les apasionaban y se entregaba por completo a su éxito. Amaba la aventura: siempre llevaba a sus hijos y a su querido perro, Chucho, a parques, playas y a cualquier evento que prometiera diversión o descubrimiento. También amaba a sus dos gallinas y atesoraba sus recuerdos y solía capturar innumerables momentos en fotos y videos.

Milagro tocó la vida de muchos con su sentido del humor alegre, su empatía incomparable y su naturaleza acogedora. Fue una hija, amiga, compañera y madre generosa, que construyó relaciones fuertes dondequiera que iba y luchó con valentía por quienes amaba hasta su último aliento.
