Mildred "Millie" McDonald (Steffa)
1936 - 2026 (Age 90)
Mildred "Millie" McDonald passed away surrounded by the love of the family she cherished above all else. A devoted wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Millie lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering love for those around her.
Millie shared an extraordinary marriage with her husband, Joseph McDonald, and together they built a life centered on family, love, faith and helping others. Their home was always welcoming, and together they created a legacy of warmth, compassion, and devotion that will live on through generations.
Nothing brought Millie greater joy than her family. Together, Millie and Joe were blessed with a family of eleven children, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Family was the center of her world. She loved having everyone together, whether for the Sunday dinners that became a family tradition or the holiday gatherings that filled the house with laughter and activity. No matter how busy life became, those gatherings were simply something you didn't miss. Some of the family's best memories were made around their table, where there was always plenty of food, conversation, and room for one more.
Millie had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in people. She gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, found something positive in nearly every person she met, and welcomed family, friends, and even strangers with an open heart. She was always willing to help someone in need and quietly made a difference in the lives of many throughout her community.
Those who knew Millie will remember her loving nature, her strength, her sense of humor, and the wisdom found in her favorite sayings: "It is what it is," "If you don't laugh, you'll cry," "Don't sweat the small things," "It's a jungle out there," and her familiar farewell, "I'll see you when I see you."
Friends often considered themselves lucky to have been welcomed into Millie and Joe's home and treated like family. Her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and ability to see the good in everyone left a lasting mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
