Neil Kenneth Sint, 76, of Holtsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Born on March 29, 1950, in Manhattan, Neil was the son of Harry and Selma Sint. He grew up in Bethpage alongside his sister, Bonnie Siegel, and later with his stepmother, Lucille, and his younger sister, the late Lori Tumminia. During those years, he developed a lifelong love for classic cars (especially Mustangs), fishing, and skiing.
He met and married the love of his life, Marilyn, and together they built the life that would become the center of his world. They raised five children: Dawn, Neil, Ryan, Shane, and Jared, creating a family life centered around togetherness with camping trips, fishing, children running through the yard, summers spent outdoors, and long evenings filled with laughter.
While Neil built a successful career in residential painting, wallpapering, and construction through Aardvark Contracting, his proudest work was always his family. Over the years, all of his boys worked alongside him at one point or another, helping with the family business.
As his children grew, Neil encouraged each of them to pursue their own path, always proud of the people they became. He passed along his love of fishing, camping, shooting, boating, the outdoors, and simply spending time together. Over the years, the family grew to include spouses and twelve grandchildren, along with the traditions, routines, and memories that became woven into their lives together.
Neil loved Christmas Eve dinners filled with lobster and steak, cooking for the family, and the familiar comfort of everyone gathered around the table. He loved traveling with his wife— especially cruises, camping trips with the family, and visits to national parks — as well as cards, poker nights, backyard conversations, good food, and evenings around a fire talking about everything and nothing. He also loved dogs, especially his beloved Shelby.
He had precise tastes, a sarcastic wit, strong opinions, and was always ready with a joke. He took a genuine interest in people, asking questions, listening closely, and making those around him feel seen and important. Family and friends will remember his strong hugs, his honesty, his humor, and the steady presence he brought to their lives.
More than anything, Neil loved having his family around him.
While he will be forever missed, his spirit lives on in the family he built and loved so deeply. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children and their spouses: Dawn (Frank), Neil II (Mary Beth), Ryan (Trisha), Shane (Kathleen) and Jared (Allison); his grandchildren: Dylan (Farzana), Holley (Darrin), Kyra, Kaylei, Logan, Marysa, Neil III, Colton, Mackenzie, Mason, Hudson and Jared Thomas; and his sister, Bonnie Siegel.
In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider a donation in honor of Neil to: Sarcoma Foundation of America.
