It is with deep sorrow yet profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Olga Cuervo, better known as "Ita," on June 18, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on July 5, 1940, in Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia, Olga moved to the United States and made her home in Holtsville, New York, where she embraced her role as a devoted homemaker and cherished family matriarch.
Olga's life was a beautiful tapestry woven from her passions. Known for her love of cooking, she delighted in preparing her favorite soups and maintaining an abundant vegetable garden that brought joy to her family. An avid knitter and expert Parcheesi player, she transformed her home into a haven of warmth and comfort, making every gathering a treasured occasion.
Olga was the beloved daughter of her late parents: Jorge Echeverry and Beatrice Messier, and she is survived by her devoted siblings, Marcela Cuomo and Marta Echeverry. She was predeceased by her beloved sisters Helena and Sonia Echeverry. Olga was a loving wife to the late Zoilo Llerena and an adoring mother to her three children: Catalina Fallon, Jamie Cuervo, and Patricia Hsieh. She found joy in her expanding family, including her son-in-law Robert Fallon and daughter-in-law Ana Maria Cuervo, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Michael Hsieh, Erin Peavy (wife), Adrian Ruiz, Kellye Ruiz (wife), John Fallon, Heidi Fallon (wife), Andrea Cuomo, Nicole Herbst, and Taylor Herbst (husband).
A pillar of her family, Olga was also a proud great-grandmother to Riley Fallon, Elena Hsieh, Lina Herbst, Jack Herbst, and James Fallon, who will carry forward her legacy of love and warmth.
We honor Olga Cuervo's spirit and the memories she leaves behind. May her love continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
