Karen Selena Hill

d. March 11, 2026

Karen Selena Hill, age 58, passed away peacefully at her home in Holbrook, New York on March 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A proud 9/11 first responder and retired New York City Police Officer, Karen lived a life defined by service, faith, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.

Karen was born on December 17, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York. From an early age, she carried a strong sense of determination and compassion that would guide her throughout her life. She pursued her education with dedication and earned her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating cum laude from the State University of New York Empire State University.

Karen devoted many years of her life to serving the people of New York City as a police officer. Her courage and commitment were especially evident as a 9/11 first responder, a role that reflected her deep sense of duty and willingness to stand in the face of danger to help others. She carried the pride of that service throughout her life.

Outside of her career, Karen found her greatest joy in her faith, family, and the simple blessings of life. She was a devoted member of True North Community Church, where her faith provided strength and guidance. Karen loved traveling, working on her home and backyard, and creating a warm, welcoming space for those she loved.

More than anything, Karen cherished being a mother. Her daughters were the center of her world, and she poured endless love, encouragement, and wisdom into their lives. She was a constant source of strength and support, always reminding those around her to stay grounded in faith and gratitude.

Karen is lovingly survived by her daughters, Quadina F. Hill and Sabrina M. Levy; her brother, Keith Hill; and her sister, Kimberly Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Smith and Pauline Hill.

Karen’s life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and faith. She leaves behind a legacy of courage, devotion, and love that will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

A funeral service honoring Karen’s life will be held at Moloney’s Holbrook Funeral Home, located at 825 Main Street, Holbrook, New York 11741. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a repass at her home at 19 Peri Avenue, Holbrook, New York 11741, where loved ones will come together to celebrate her life and share memories.

Karen held close the words of scripture from Philippians 4:11:

“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

Her strength, faith, and love will continue to guide those she leaves behind.

“Karen’s life was one of courage, compassion, and unwavering faith. As a 9/11 first responder, a devoted mother, and a woman who trusted deeply in God, she showed us what it truly means to live with purpose, strength, and love.”

“Mom, your strength, faith, and love shaped the women we are today. Though our hearts ache in your absence, we will carry your lessons, your laughter, and your love with us for the rest of our lives. Your legacy will live on in the way we love, the way we persevere, and the way we honor the values you instilled in us.”

Forever loved and deeply missed,

Your daughters,

Quadina and Sabrina

“Your watch is over now, Mom. Rest peacefully — we’ll take it from here.”
