Patricia Ann Hollenstein, lovingly known as Grandma Pat by her grandchildren and Gigi by her great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Riverhead, New York. Born on November 3, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to George Peter Wensdofer and Ottilda Catherine Schnabel Wensdofer, Patricia lived a vibrant life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family.
Patricia dedicated many years of her career as an administrative assistant in the William Floyd School District, where her organizational skills and warm presence left a lasting impact until her retirement. Her true passions, however, shone through in her personal life. An avid painter, gardener, and home decorator, Patricia kept her home pristine, reflecting her keen eye for beauty and detail. Her love for animals, especially dogs, brought joy to her daily life, but nothing surpassed the happiness she found in spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A cherished family tradition was her annual Day After Christmas Brunch, where she cooked three pound of bacon and hosted a festive gathering that the entire family eagerly anticipated each holiday season, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Patricia was the proud mother of four children, born to her and Richard Hollenstein. She is survived by her three daughters: Deborah Church (Keith), Jacqueline Andrejack (John), and Patricia Riela (Vincent). Her eleven grandchildren were the light of her life: Tiffany Achnitz (William), Chantal Dasaro (Jon), Keith Church II (Nicole), John Ryan Andrejack (Brittney), Kristin Sweeney (Sean), Mark Andrejack, Vincent Riela Jr. (Gina), Katie Riela, Cherese Hollenstein, and Richard Hollenstein III. She also cherished her eight great-grandchildren: James Achnitz, Christopher Dasaro, Scarlett Dasaro, Jonathan Dasaro Jr., Keith Church III, Brooks Andrejack, Sophia Riela, Eliyana Riela, and Luca Riela. She is also survived by her brother, John Wensdofer.
Patricia was predeceased by her son, Richard G. Hollenstein Jr., her grandson, Mario Riela, and her sister, Jo Ann Geoghegan.
A burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches, where Patricia will be laid to rest. Her family welcomes all who knew her to join in celebrating her life.
Patricia's legacy of love, creativity, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
