Patricia Mary Phelan

Patricia Mary Phelan (nee Donnelly), of Southold , New York and Boynton Beach, Florida, passed peacefully on July 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.Beloved wife of Joseph of 62 Years, devoted mother of Stephen Phelan (Diane), Siobhan Atkinson (Thomas), Kieran Phelan, Kara O’Keefe (Stephen), and Deirdre Gillen-Mulvihill (James). Proud and cherished grandmother of Sinead, Ryan, Christine, Mairead, Brendan, Eamon, Aidan and Aislinn.
Survived by adored “sister” Catherine (Patsy) Tarpey and sisters-in-law Mary Roche and Patricia Phelan King. Pre-deceased by her loving parents, Patrick and Mary Ellen Donnelly, and brother, William Donnelly.
Patricia was born and raised in the Bronx with summers at Rockaway Beach – Mom was a true New Yorker. She was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School in Manhattan. She met our Dad in nursing school in Manhattan State where she earned her LPN license.
Mom and Dad were married in 1954 and raised us in Rego Park, Queens, New York. Our house on Ellwell Crescent was frequented by relatives and friends over the years. All were welcomed into Mom’s kitchen, and her cooking skills are legendary in the family. Our house was truly a home, and it was Mom who made it so.
Beginning in 1986, Mom and Dad split their time between sunny Boynton Beach in the winters and bucolic Southold where all were welcome at any time. The tradition continued as the grandchildren arrived.
We are all blessed to have so many wonderful memories of our Mom and we ask all who visit to please share your stories with us.
