Patrick James Flaherty

Patrick J. Flaherty passed away at home on May 15, 2026. Pat grew up in Commack, NY, and graduated from Bowling Green University in Ohio. He owned the Commack Deli along with his brother, Tom. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching football, being an umpire and referee for baseball and basketball. He especially loved watching his kids and grandkids participate in their sports! Family and lifelong friends were very important to him, as well as his beloved dog Teddy.

Pat is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Flaherty, his beloved children Danny (Lisa Anne) and Annie (Corey Kane), his loving grandchildren PJ and Nate Flaherty. Also father to sons Michael and Peter (Katie Flaherty), and grandfather to grandsons Ben, Johnny and Ryan. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Regina Flaherty and his brothers Tommy and Mickey Flaherty. He is survived by his siblings Kathy Flaherty, Mary Sharkey, Gina (Mike Iadanza) and Frannie (Gerry Schenk). Pat was a beloved uncle to Paddy Sharkey, Jackie (Ryan Rao), Tommy (Jona Iadanza), Kaylee and Konnor Schenk. He was a beloved grand uncle to JT and Charlie Rao, and Jayce and Shay Iadanza. He will be remembered as being kind, generous and a good friend to all. Pat touched so many lives and will be sorely missed by everyone.
