Prem Devi
1935 – 2026
Prem Devi, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 91.
She spent almost a century bringing light, laughter, and wisdom into the world. To her family, she was a steady anchor, an endless source of comfort, and a brilliant mind.
She expressed her immense love through her cooking, consistently making the most delicious, tasty food. Some of her happiest moments were spent with her hands kept busy, pouring her love into beautiful knitting and crochet projects, wrapping her family in warmth both literally and figuratively. She found pure joy in the simple things, such as her favorite comedy, The Kapil Sharma Show- laughing along with the comedy that matched her own playful spirit
Her greatest masterpiece, however, was her family. She was always there—the absolute pillar we all leaned on. She carried the weight of an entire generation on her shoulders with absolute grace, ensuring that every child, grandchild and great-grandchild grew up knowing the true meaning of unconditional love, strength, and a good sense of humor.
While she has stepped quietly into her eternal rest, the love she gave and the joy she created are permanently woven into the fabric of our lives. Though our hearts are heavy with her absence, we are profoundly grateful for every moment we were blessed to share her light, and we take comfort in knowing her spirit will guide us forever.
Her extraordinary legacy lives on through her children: Manjula Tewari, Davendra Vats, Beena Sharma, Vinod Vats, and Kum Kum Kaushik; her grandchildren: Neera Tewari, Nidhi Tewari, Aashish Vats, Tripti Vats, Anmol Vats, Aarti Kaushik, Rajeev Vats, Sumukhi Rathi, Sanjeev Vats, Tryambak Kaushik, and Rishabh Kaushik; and her great-grandchildren: Jhanvi, Jaya, Priya, Nadia, Satvik, Aarav, Panav, Kaashi, Alankrati, Anushka, Himadree, and Divyansh.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a hearty laugh with a loved one, knit or crochet a loop of yarn with someone special in mind, or watch an episode of Kapil Sharma and smile in her memory.
"Her beautiful stitches keep us warm; her tasty food fills our souls; her sharp wit keeps us smiling forever."
