Ralph Sturchio, Age 86, passed away on Friday, December 6th after heart failure. Father to three: Carla Sturchio Michalak (Dave), Doreen Sturchio Flanagan (Brian), Pam Sturchio
Grandfather to seven: Caroline Michalak, David Michalak and Emily Michalak Schmidt (Mike), Kelly Flanagan and Kyle Flanagan, Elena “EQ” Quandt and Matt Quandt. Married to Helen Mader Sturchio for 37 years until she passed on April 17, 1998.
Survived by his brother Peter Anthony Sturchio (Kathie), Goddaughter Laura Martin (Cole) and great nephew Nash.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter Sturchio (1962) and his mother Anna Cremona Sturchio (2003) and predeceased by his in laws, Helen (1998) and Rudolph Mader (1974).
Lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, dedicated service to his church including reader, assistant minister, Sunday School teacher, president and treasurer for the church. In addition to doing anything else that was asked of him.
Completed his education at the Academy of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Airport. He earned a degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology. Dedicated his professional career to Grumman Aerospace as a Senior Contracts Administrator.
In retirement he volunteered at local elementary schools conducting a program on Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) for several years.
Always willing to lend a helping hand, Ralph is known for his problem solving skills and desire to help others including family, neighbors and friends. He was always generous with his time and talents.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Smithtown NY or the American Heart Association would be appreciated in memory of Ralph Sturchio.
