The world is less SUPER now that Richard Ludwig, husband, father, brother, uncle, great-uncle, best friend and Superhero has passed away.
Slick had an INCREDIBLE personality. He was loving, giving and so inclusive. He made everyone feel important. More loyal than SUPERMAN, family was everything to him. Spending time with Christine, Gavin and Kayla, hiking, going to the beach or watching movies, it was being with his Ohana that he loved the most. They will always remember how funny it was when he would fall asleep during a movie, and when he would get caught, denied he was sleeping.
With the enthusiasm of SPIDERMAN spinning web-tales, Rick was always able to appreciate a diverse tapestry of stories and remembered every detail. He would tell you what to read or what to watch with great enthusiasm. Book and movie sales skyrocketed when he endorsed them to friends, family, or anyone who he thought might enjoy them.
Like CAPTAIN AMERICA, he loved drawing. He was an artist, not just because of his character sketches, but because of the way he saw the world and the people in it. His world was filled with love and light, color and joy, and sincere pride in the accomplishments of everyone he knew. “Love does not envy” and Rick was filled with love.
Rick had a playful, competitive spirit. As WOLVERINE’S motto says, “You don't call yourself "the best there is at what you do" if you don't have a competitive streak.” Playing sports, he was a fierce competitor, even when playing basketball with his little brother. He treated everyone as an equal, he gave the same love, and the same smack talk. He loved traveling with his friends to Volleyball tournaments, and they became family to him. As a trainer he was encouraging and so very outgoing that he landed a gig on a tv talk show and posed with his HULK physique for Parade magazine.
Born on 10-10 the best birthday you can have, according to Rick, to Kathryn (d:1999) and Richard Ludwig (d:2025). Landing into a family surrounded by sisters, he hoped for a little brother and was so happy to have that prayer answered. He will be missed to INFINITY AND BEYOND by his wife, Christine, children; Gavin and Kayla, and faithful dog, Smokey. Siblings: brother David, sisters; Laura (John Hamor), Suzanne (John Amberge), Nancy (Ed Delamarter). Sister-in-law Nicole (and Carmine) Nephews and Nieces: John, Michael, Craig and Ashley, Brian and Caitlin, Victoria and Andrew, Matthew, Stephen, Kathryn, Angelina, Nathaniel, Christian and Steven. Great nephews: Caeden, Declan, Nolan, and Tiernan.
God only takes the good ones early to help out with the battles between good vs. evil. We know Rick is fighting for good, HE has always been the Superhero he talked about.
