In Loving Memory of Richard Andrew Strom

March 16, 1940-June 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Richard Andrew Strom, affectionately known as "Rich" or "The Duke." Richard passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 13, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born in Flushing, New York, Richard lived a life defined by service, strength, and unwavering kindness. He proudly served in the United States Army and later continued his military career with the United States Navy Reserve Seabees, retiring in 1995 after 22 years of honorable service. In addition to his military career, Richard served as a Chief Investigator for the New York City Department of Sanitation, where he was highly respected for his integrity and leadership.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard will be remembered for his generous spirit. He always looked for the good in people and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He found great joy in fishing, running his business, riding his Harley, golfing, reading, and traveling. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. To many, he was a mentor and protector, to his family, he was irreplaceable.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Frances Strom. He is survived by his children, Richard N. Strom, Jodie (Vincent) Dodge, Francine (Michael) lannone, and Ana Menendez; his grandchildren, Richard, Korrine, Kassidy, Mollie, Michael Jr., Vince, and Liana; and his great-grandchildren, Karter, Levi, Jett, Amelia, Madeline, and Natalie. He also leaves behind his partner Eileen Singler, and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of loyalty and love will live on in all who knew him.
