Salvatore "Sal" Curto – June 26, 1978 – January 20, 2026 Salvatore James Curto, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly on January 20, 2026. Sal is survived by his loving wife, Marisa, their children, James, Joseph and Claire, his mother, Charlotte, his sisters, Anne Cassarello (Johnny), and Patricia Walsh (Rob). Sal was the proud uncle of two nieces, Grace and Carrie Cassarello. He was predeceased by his father, James Curto.
Growing up in Brentwood, Sal participated in many sports, including soccer, baseball, wrestling deck hockey and track. He graduated High School in 1996, 5th in his class. After High School, he went to SUNY Binghamton University, graduating with an MIS degree. Sal started his career at Cablevision, then Arrow Electronics for many years. Most recently, Sal was a valued team member for oAppsNet, which became an extension of his family.
Sal got married in 2008 to Marisa Laag, his love and true partner. Together they started a beautiful family. They settled in the town of Ronkonkoma and had 3 beautiful children together: James, Joseph and Claire.
Salvatore was an incredibly intelligent, hardworking and honorable person. He was someone you could always depend on for thoughtful advice or a good laugh with his dry sense of humor. We could always count on Sal to lighten any mood with his witty one liners. And most importantly he was a rock for his family, a solid, reliable and decent man. Sal would do anything for his family and took his wife to see Tim McGraw last year just because she is a fan.
Family was his priority, and he could be seen at every dance recital, soccer game, basketball game, swimming lesson, concert and boy scout event and truly supported his children with enthusiasm and pride. He attended school events as much as possible, dedicated to not only being an amazing father but a loving spouse. In addition to his support, he volunteered to coach both James and Joseph on their soccer teams, getting to know so many people of our community. He shared his love of the Mets, Giants and Rangers with his kids, and dedicated his time to watching professional soccer games with his boys. His children were, and surely still are and forever will be the apple of his eye.
Sal’s loss is devastating and unthinkable. The support from the community has helped his family so much to cope with this terrible loss.
He will remain in our hearts forever.
