In Loving Memory of Seamus McGuickian June 8, 1962 – August 9, 2026It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Seamus McGuickian, who passed away on August 9, 2026. Born on June 8, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York, Seamus spent his childhood growing up in Lough Egish, Ireland, alongside his mother, father, brother Freddy, and sister Doreen. As the oldest of three children, his years in Ireland shaped so much of the man he would become. In his younger years in Ireland, Seamus spent some time farming and worked at Lakelands Dairies Creamery, but his favorite job was making furniture. At just 23 years old, Seamus made the courageous decision to leave Ireland and move to Long Island, New York. He arrived in America with very little, but through hard work, determination, and perseverance, he built an entire life for himself from the ground up—a life and family he was incredibly proud of. He married his wife, Gayle McGuickian, and together they built a family and raised their two children, Shannon and Ryan. Seamus’s hard work and determination also inspired his godson, Dylan, to follow in his footsteps and begin his own life in the United States. Of all the roles Seamus held throughout his life, one of his greatest was being a grandfather to his three beautiful granddaughters—Everly and Isla, welcomed by Ryan and Amanda, and Rosalina, welcomed by Shannon and Frank. He loved his girls tremendously, and the time he spent with them brought him so much happiness. Seamus was happiest doing the things he loved most—being outside, spending time in his garage or shed, working on cars, riding motorcycles, fishing, and simply being around the people he loved. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found tinkering with something, fixing something, or finding another project to keep himself busy. But more than anything he did, Seamus will be remembered for who he was. He was the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back. If someone needed help, he was there. He didn’t need recognition or anything in return; helping people was simply part of who he was. He was hardworking, generous, loyal, and genuinely good-hearted.He was loved by so many people because there was nothing complicated about his kindness. He was simply a genuinely good guy. His life is a testament to how much can be built from humble beginnings. A young man from Ireland came to America with almost nothing and, through his own hard work, built a home, a family, friendships, and a life filled with people who loved him. While his absence leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, so much of Seamus remains—in his children, in his granddaughters, in the stories that will continue to be told, and in the countless people whose lives were made a little better simply because they knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
