The devoted nurses and doctors who cared for her remember her gentle spirit and the warmth she brought to every room she entered.

Born on September 23, 1942, in the serene surroundings of Canal 1, Guyana, Sonamatti was the cherished daughter of Maraj and Moharanie. Her early years in the vibrant and close-knit community of Canal 1 cultivated her lifelong love for family and friendship. These values guided her through a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity.

Sonamatti's legacy is carried forward by her sister, Haro, and six loving children: Sammy, Rohan, Indira, Nadira, Patrick, and Nalini. Her presence in their lives was a beacon of strength and wisdom, and her teachings will continue to influence them for generations to come. She was also a proud grandmother to sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and she delighted in sharing stories and wisdom with them, ensuring that her legacy of kindness and resilience would continue to flourish through them.
