Thomas F. Flaherty III

d. May 29, 2025

Tom passed away the morning of May 29, 2025. He was born in Geneva, NY and grew up in Commack, NY. He attended St. Anthony’s High School and St. John’s University. In his younger years, what began as a job at the Commack Deli ultimately led to him owning the popular business. Later on, he retired after a notable career with the Internal Revenue Service.

Tom was an avid golfer, reader, loved to play scrabble, going to see the latest movies, and gardening. Tom was a wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed spending time with family on vacations, at dinners, and celebrating momentous events.

Tom is predeceased by his loving parents, Thomas F. Flaherty II and Regina Flaherty, and his loving brother, Mickey Flaherty. He is survived by his siblings Kathy Flaherty, Pat and Kathy Flaherty, Mary L. Sharkey, Gina and Mike Iadanza, and Fran and Gerry Schenk. Tom was a beloved uncle to Patrick Sharkey, Dan and Lisa Anne Flaherty, Jackie and Ryan Rao, Tom and Jona Iadanza, Annie and Corey Kane, Kaylee Schenk and Konnor Schenk. He was also a beloved grand uncle to P.J. and Nathan Flaherty, J.T. and Charlie Rao, and Jayce Iadanza.

 Tom will be sorely missed!
