Thomas J. Gallagher Jr.

Thomas J. Gallagher Jr., 79, of Ronkonkoma, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026.

Thomas was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose strong personality and unmistakable presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a tough cookie with a big heart, someone who loved fiercely and lived life his own way. Widowed in recent years, he remained deeply devoted to his family and cherished the time he spent with those he loved most.

He is survived by his loving children, Tracey Kirch and her husband James, Daniel Gallagher and his wife Tiana, and Jillian Mehrhoff and her husband Gregory. He was the proud grandfather of Skyla Gallagher, Greyson Gallagher, Logan Mehrhoff, Gabriel Mehrhoff, and Jeremy Gallagher, all of whom brought tremendous joy to his life.

Thomas is also survived by his brothers, Michael and Daniel, and his sister, Lynn.

He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and wolves. He was a lifelong music fan who especially enjoyed The Beatles and The Beach Boys, and he loved spending time watching classic old movies.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. John Nepomucene Church, followed by burial at Calverton National Cemetery.

Thomas will be remembered for his strength, his love of family, his appreciation for music and film, and the unique spirit he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
