Tom Lavars passed away peacefully on April 29th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his illness, he maintained the same grit and bravery that defined his life, never wavering in his devotion to those he loved.
A proud Army Veteran, Tom carried the values of service and discipline with him long after his time in uniform. To those who knew him, he was simply the hardest-working man they had ever met. He lived by a simple, selfless code: providing for his family came first. Working six days a week and long hours was not a burden to Tom, but a badge of honor and a testament to his love.
When he wasn’t working, Tom found his freedom on the open road. A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, he was never happier than when he was on his Harley, feeling the wind and the roar of the engine. Yet, no matter how far he rode, his heart was always at home. Family was everything to Tom, and he made sure they knew they were his greatest pride and joy.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Bette; his devoted children, Catherine, John, and Tara; and his cherished grandchildren, Aleena, Olivia, and Juliana. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Lavars.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tom’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization that honors the veterans and first responders he so greatly respected.
