Timothy Brian Murphy passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Tim was a devoted husband, cherished father, and proud grandfather whose strength, warmth, and steady presence formed the heart and foundation of his family.
A 1976 graduate of Comsewogue High School, Tim was honored as “Class Artist,” a fitting tribute to his remarkable creativity and talent. In his early twenties, he began a distinguished 27-year career with the Long Island Rail Road. Starting as a Bridge and Building Carpenter, he later brought his artistic gifts to sign-writing and computer graphics. Tim retired at the age of fifty, a blessing that afforded him many treasured years devoted to the people he loved most.
Tim was a man of extraordinary and rare ability. He could build a home from the ground up, mastering plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry with expert skill. He rebuilt cars and boats, crafted beautiful furniture, painted stunning works of art, and prepared gourmet meals with ease. There seemed to be nothing he could not do. He possessed both the keen intelligence and sensitivity of an artist and the practical talent to bring his visions fully to life.
Above all, family was Tim’s greatest joy and purpose. His children often said they had the best father anyone could ask for and the happiest childhood imaginable. Selfless and generous in spirit, he never desired material gifts, only the happiness and well-being of his children and grandchildren.
Tim shared forty-four wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sharon. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three amazing children: Tyler, Shannon, and Duran. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his two grandsons, Kian Michael and Bodhi Bernard, each of whom shared a special and cherished bond with him. He is also survived by his loving mother, Elissa, four siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
A deeply spiritual man, Tim believed strongly in the power of prayer and carried his faith with quiet strength. Though his loss is immeasurable, his legacy of love, faith, creativity, and devotion will live on in the hearts and lives of all who were blessed to know him.
May God bless all those who supported him during his illness and continue to keep him in their prayers.
