William Harry Oterson, cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on February 24, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Bill lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love. He spent his career as a Telecommunications Technician with the New York Telephone Company, where his commitment to his field was evident.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Bill's service to his country laid the foundation for a life devoted to community and family. He is loving remembered by his sons, Eric Oterson (Denise) and William Oterson (Nicole), his daughter, Stephanie DeVito (Thomas), and his adoring grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Nicholas, and Victoria.
Bill had countless interests that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. He was a master gardener, cultivating beauty and nourishment with his green thumb. An avid beekeeper, he understood the delicate balance of nature and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Known affectionately as "Mr. Bill," he inspired countless young minds during his time as a camp counselor and licensed kayak instructor, teaching children the joys of the outdoors and the importance of exploration.
His passion for photography allowed him to capture the fleeting moments of life, preserving memories for all who knew him. Bill's enthusiasm for life and learning was infectious, making a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
As we gather to honor Bill's legacy, we remember his warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit. He touched our lives in so many ways, and while he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to inspire us.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bill's name to Tunnel to Towers at t2t.org.
Rest in peace, dear Bill. You will be deeply missed, but your love will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
