9/18/36- 8/4/25
William Harvey Pryor, affectionately known as Bill, at 88 years old, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at the home where he raised his family and built a life full of love, laughter, and devotion.
Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, on September 18, 1936, to Helen Mary Garland and James Aloysius Pryor, Bill was a proud son, raised in Brooklyn — a place he held close to his heart throughout his life. He embodied the spirit of the city: tough, loyal, sharp-witted, and always ready with a one-liner that could make a room burst into laughter. Bill kept his sense of humor until the very end. A U.S. Army Veteran and retired NYPD Sergeant, Bill dedicated his life to service, both to his country and his community. After retiring from the force, he went on to build a successful real estate business. A devoted Roman Catholic, he was a longtime member of Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church.
More than any title or achievement, Bill was most proud of being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to Margaret Connelly, for 65 wonderful years. Together they raised seven children. Bill’s life was filled with joy. He loved music and singing and often performed with his brothers, James and Jack, at family gatherings. He had infectious energy and could often be found playing sports with the neighborhood kids. His quick wit, charm, and legendary sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He spent his final months surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren — the people he loved most. He is predeceased by his siblings Agnes, James, and John. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret, and their seven children: Claire Lazzaro (husband John Lazzaro), William Pryor (wife Carylon Pryor), Kevin Pryor (wife Rebecca Pryor), Robert Pryor (wife Lisa Pryor), Thomas Pryor (wife Concetta Pryor), Celeste Micheline (husband Robert Micheline), and Michael Pryor (wife Georgina Pryor). He was a proud grandfather to 36 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 29.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, at Moloney Holbrook Funeral Home, 825 Main Street, Holbrook, NY, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Farmingville, NY. Bill will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River, NY.
