OBITUARY

Bernice Youngblood was the daughter of the late Joe Willy Delaney and Minnie Davis.
She was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1928. She lived a life of love from her parents as well as her siblings, brothers James and David, and sisters Nell, Bonnie Pearl and Mary Lee. But growing up in a time of segregation was very difficult and she endured many difficult living experiences, vowing to “leave the south and never return.”
As a young woman, she met and married Franklin R. Youngblood, the first love of her
life, from Charleston, South Carolina. They traveled and lived in many states because he was a military man. They eventually had six children and settled in Central Islip, New York. There, they raised their children, Beverly, Franklin, Audrey, Violet, Kenneth and Darrell. Mrs. Bernice Youngblood worked for a while at Kings Park Psychiatric Center.
However, she mainly was a stay-at-home mother. She lived in an area called Carleton Park with a community of people she loved. Everyone respected Mrs. Youngblood. She would feed, clothe and provide shelter for anyone in need. She would give parties and cookouts at her home at 105 Smith Street. She was an usher at Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Richard M. Loving. Bernice was a wonderful woman that would help anyone and a staple in her community for many, many years.
Her many hobbies were a love of fishing, and she had a companion fondly known as “Mr. Mac” that made fishing a great experience. And she enjoyed visiting Atlantic City and playing the slot machines with her long-time companion Charles Powell.
Bernice was preceded in death by her loving parents, Joe Willy Delaney and Minnie
Davis, her husband, Franklin R. Youngblood, her loving daughters, Beverly Youngblood and Audrey Youngblood, her grandson, Denzel Youngblood, her brothers, James Delaney and Dave Delaney, her sisters, Nell Brown, Bonnie Pearl Delaney and Mary Lee Williams, loves of herlife, Mr. Mac McDaniels and Charles Powell, Savannah Davis, and a host of great friends. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Violet Burrell of Bay Shore, NY, her sons, Franklin Youngblood of Amityville, NY, Kenneth Youngblood of Centereach, NY and Darrell
Youngblood of Queens, NY. She also leaves to mourn her passing 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grand children as follows: Grandchildren, Jemel Q. Youngblood (Yolanda) of Hampton, GA, Saniya C. Delgado (Robert) of Coram, NY; LaToya N. Youngblood-Ellis (Jamell) of Amityville, NY; Tina M. Gaines (Edward) of Amityville, NY; Latisha I. Youngblood of Mooresville, NC; Latosha L.
