We first met in the early ‘70’s while working at Brown Brothers Harriman. I went to work at the Port Authority in ‘73 and we would met periodically for lunch. Lost touch after awhile until we met again when he became a cop at the PA. Hard to believe. He was a great guy, always the gentleman with a great spirit. RIP Dennis old friend

We at the Port Authority Retired Police, Assoc were very saddened to hear of our good friend and colleague Dennis had passed on. We have fond memories that will live on in our thoughts as we adjust to this news. One of Dennis's greatest traits was the love of family. He would often greet his fellow Officers by saying " How is your family my friend ". He will be greatly missed, and will be in our prayers.

Donald F. Delano and Family left a message on July 11, 2020:
It's hard to imagine a world without Dennis Flavin. He brought honor to his uniform and was an honest, intelligent and witty man. He was a great friend and always the point man - leading the way to keep others out of harm's way. He knew that all men are created equal and gave everyone a fair shake. If you needed help, he was right there. He took new cops under his wing, making sure they felt welcome and knew the paperwork. I have fond memories of working a busy 3x11 tour at JFK with him, then adjourning to Rasputin's where you could bet he'd order a gin and tonic (lots of ice). The rest of the tour would arrive and he'd hold court, resulting in many yuks. So many of those fine folks are gone and Dennis has joined them in Heaven. Dennis was a man of integrity, who took care of his parents in their old age and devoted his life to his wife Mary Ann and his daughter Lori. They should know he spoke of them often and with great, great pride. Anyone who knew Dennis Flavin immediately liked him and I'm honored to have been his friend. May his soul rest in peace with the Lord. Our condolences to his family. May our memories of sunny days with Dennis remain in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
