Dom Como

d. July 16, 2019

Francis Dominic Como, 85, of Bohemia, NY joined his family in eternal life on July 16, 2019. Son of Frances and Louis Como of Bohemia, NY, one of five siblings; Frank Como, Frances Nichol, Rosemary Nichol and Louise Dabes, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 9, 1934. Raised in Westbury, NY, later moving to New Paltz, NY to marry and start a family.

He is survived by three daughters. Tammy Anderson and Brian Anderson of Danville, CA, Kim Stanney of Canandaigua, NY and Stacy Marguglio and her husband Dino Marguglio of New Paltz, NY. In addition, he leaves behind five grandchildren; Mackenzie Anderson, Kyle Stanney, Kayla Stanney, Cassie Masterson and Anthony Marguglio, as well as one great-grandchild; Austin James Masterson.

Dom served in the United States Army Reserves and worked for the DOT for the state of New York, SUNY New Paltz as maintenance supervisor and most recently collecting samples for an environmental lab on Long Island. He loved being active and worked into his early 80’s. He enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, hiking and going to the Connetquot Public Library in Bohemia, NY where he would check his email, read and attend many of the events. In addition, the librarians recently (April 13, 2017) produced a YouTube of Dominic demonstrating the production process of his father’s successful silk flower business.

His love of the outdoors and nature kept him active throughout the years, as did his Catholic faith. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s parish and choir in New Paltz, NY for many years, until moving to Bohemia, NY where he enjoyed being a member of the Saint John Nepomucene parish and choir.

Dominic was a very loving and friendly guy who always had a smile on his face. He made friends easily and was well known by many as very easygoing and a good friend who would always give you a hand.
