Dr. Joseph John Califano, Ph.D

Califano, Joseph, Ph.D.- It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Califano announce his passing on January 22, 2022 in Naples, Florida. Born December 6, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Beatrice (nee Penza), his wife Marie (nee Noviello) and brother Robert. Survived by children Thomas (Carol), Joseph (Renee), Maria (Michael), Christina (Thomas), Michael (Theresa), Catherine and Peter (Joy) and by grandchildren Jessica Califano (John Carelli), Paul Califano, Teresa Califano, Jaqueline Scarangella, Sophia Scarangella, Anne Scarangella, Katherine Altmayer, Thomas Altmayer, Joseph (Jake) Altmayer, Aidan McElhatton, Mia McElhatton, Zachary Califano, Dominic Califano, Alexandra Sciallo, Natalie Sciallo, Julia Sciallo, Victoria Califano, Claudia Califano, Thomas Califano and great-grandchild Luca Califano and brother Richard. Formerly an ordained Deacon at St. Joseph’s RC Church in Ronkonkoma. Professor of Philosophy at St. John’s University for more than 40 years. He touched countless lives in both capacities. Mass to be held at St. Joseph’s RC Church Ronkonkoma at 12:00 am Friday, January 28, 2022. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Franciscan Missions
