E. Marianne Ritz

1. Marianne Ritz, 92 of East Moriches died on May 3, 2018 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.

She was born in Port Chester, NY on January 18, 1926 to the Late Ethel Mary Lukert Leinen and Thomas Jackson Leinen. Married the Late Frank Robert Ritz on August 17, 1947.

She had a caring and loving knowledge toward teaching children, so she decided to become a teacher. She graduated Harrison High School in 1942, and moved on to graduated Mount Holyoke College in 1945 with a BA in Art. She then graduated with her Masters in Child Education from SUNY New Paltz in 1958. Marianne was a loyal friend, mentor and was instrumental in helping other educators reach their professional goals. She became a third grade teacher at the William Floyd School District in 1955, until her retirement in 1982. Marianne was always remembered as the teacher who “went in early and always stayed late”.

After retirement she had a small business which would take dull flower beds and turn them into gorgeous flower gardens. She had a great love for the community and her church. She cherished the time she spent with all ( including old boating friends) and she was a regular at Lully’s Snack Place in Riverhead.

All will miss Marianne’s Birthday cards. She would always say “It’s more personal to receive a birthday wish then a holiday card” That’s because she would always write something personal in those Birthday wishes.

Marianne is survived by two daughters. Adrianne Ritz-Frasher of Colorado and Susan J. Ritz-Frey of Eastport NY. Sister and Brother in-law Nancy and George Chelwick of Greenwich CT. Grand children James Robinson, Nathaniel Frey, Ashley Yeager, Melissa Frey and Daniel Locrotondo. Great Grandchildren Brett Robinson, Maci Ethel Locrotondo and Colton Frey. Plus all her dear friends she had made thru the years.
