d. March 23, 2020

Edward J. Grob, a longtime resident of Ronkonkoma, passed away March 23, 2020, surrounded by family. He was 76.

Ed was born in Queens on March 24, 1943. He later moved to Deer Park, where he met Carole O’Connor at Babylon High School and they began dating. He joined the Air Force in 1961 and married Carole in 1963 before being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, from 1963 to ’65.

The couple, with their baby daughter, moved back to Long Island, had three more children and eventually settled in Ronkonkoma.

Ed was a longtime driver for United Parcel Service, serving the same route in Plainview for many years from the 1970s to the ’90s. He was a devoted father, helping his children establish homes and lives on Long Island. He was also an avid golfer and poker player. He retired in 1999.

Ed and Carole moved to Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina, in 2014, where he enjoyed golfing, visits from his family, playing cards with friends and walking along the pier.

They returned to Long Island in 2019, moving to Sayville.

He was the cherished husband of Carole Grob for 57 years; loving father of Kim (Douglas Dutton), Sherri, Michael and Chris (Pamela Child); brother of Lawrence, Barbara (Schockaert) and Donald; adored grandfather to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Eleanor Grob, and a sister, Mary (Logan).

The family will host a celebration of his life at a later date to be announced.
