Deepest sympathies to the family. Gene and Jessie were the first to welcome us to Jefferson Street in Baldwin in 2002. Gene always had a smile and a warm hello. Loved listening to all his crazy stories. Generous and caring heart. We will really miss him. Sincerely, Kristen, Joe and Delaney Donato

With deepest condolence on your loss.. From my very first handshake...and a firm handshake it was :) I always enjoyed listening to him tell stories of his life, love for singing and entertaining people. And of course talking about our shared love for boxing, Gene you will be sorely missed by me and everyone you brought joy and laughter to along the way. I was lucky to have met you and glad I was able to see you one last time to say goodbye.

I lost my hero today.... my Uncle Gene DeMaria... he was like a father to me... my friend... my confidante... sometimes my date... always my valentine.. he was a character... always telling jokes and doing imitations, a tough guy with the strongest handshake. A Yankees fan. A boxer. Born in the Bronx. He played the accordion, sang and looked like Tony Bennett. He always took care, and was proud, of his family. He was very wise. I was blessed to have him in my life... my heart is broken... he will be forever missed. In the words of Tony Bennett... Life is a Gift... love you Uncle Gene DeMaria <3
