Ignacio Sarabia

Ignacio Sarabia was born December 19, 1933 and he departed this earth on July 16, 2019 in Takoma Park, Maryland. Ignacio was born to Ignacio Sarabia Sr. and Maria Alvarez who preceded him in death.

Ignacio known by many as “Jr.” graduated from Morris high School in Bronx, NY.

Immediately after completing high school, Ignacio moved to long island and began his service to the care and service of the mentally ill and developmentally delayed by working 40 years for Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center in Brentwood, NY.

His greatest loves were his daughter, spending time with family and playing and listening to music. A musician through and through, who played all percussion instruments. His passion was playing and listening to Salsa! A gentile heart who gave unconditional love to his family and a strong man of character, with a great sense of humor, oh boy did he love to laugh… He was an honest soul and a hardworking man.

Ignacio (“Jr.”) lived a full life filled with God, love, music, travel and time with his family and friends. He would like for us to love each other, support each other and remember the good times he had with each of us and be sure to share some of those stories with his daughter.

He leaves to mourn, his daughter Maria E. Sarabia, his niece Karen Keraga and three nephews, Frank Garces, Billy Sarabia and Andy Sarabia, and a long line of cousins and a god daughter whom he adored.

The viewing and service will take place at Moloney’s Lake funeral Home and Cremation Center, Lake Ronkonkoma on July 26, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, with the burial immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery in Brentwood, NY.
