I was a member of engine 16 during the late fifties, sixties and seventies, We were in single houses most of those years but 16 responded with ladder 7 often. Joe was an exceptional fireman and human being. I haven't seen Joe for decades but will never forget the wonderful man he was.

Shocked to hear of Joe's. passing. Joe could calm a storm over the telephone, and was a good house diplomat. It was a pleasure to work along side him, and to all in the house, he was affectionately known simply as "Uncle Joey" May God bless your memory, and give comfort to your family. I will miss you Brother.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Lt Massina was one of my first Lieutenants in Ladder 125. He was always a nice guy even if you where a Proby. He always made you feel like everything was going to be ok at any emergency. Sorry I missed the service but I have been thinking of him.

I was sorry to hear of Joe's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I met Joe many years ago through basketball officiating. Always helpful and ready to talk. Always asked how you were doing- your job, life etc. His big smile was his badge. It was an honor and pleasure to know Joe for many years.

I am sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I met Joe many years ago when I joined the fraternity of basketball officials in Suffolk County. At our monthly meetings, Joe spent much of the time seeking out friends to say "hello" and ask how they and their families were doing. His big smile wash his trademark. It was a pleasure to know Joe. He was an example on how to live a fulfilled life. My condolences to the family, John, Erin, children, Sharon and family.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. While age and distance have kept us all from visiting in recent years, the memories we created from childhood are still very fresh in my mind. As a matter of fact, I remember introducing Sylvia and Joe in our early 20's!! Growing up, Joe's sister was my best friend! Such wonderful memories for sure. My sincerest condolences go out to Sylvia, Susan, John, Sharon, Jane and their families. He will be greatly missed by us all.
