Charlie Gili left a message on March 14, 2024:
Hello, We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Irving Family know that we have donated to the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of Kevin James Irving US Marine Corporal. We also will place a flag in his honor each year on Memorial Day Weekend at our “Field of Flags” event, held under the Verrazano Bridge, next to Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn and at each location where we conduct this memorial. We recognize that these are humble tributes, but we wanted you to know that each is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong. Sincerely, Charlie Gili & Family On Behalf of the US Hockey Players Support Our Troops Campaign

Let it be known, Kevin Irving, possessed honor without Vanity. Strength without Insolence, courage without Ferocity. And all the Virtues of an honorable man. Let it be known.... ALL of US, your family at Milicia Electric Corp, will never let the memories of your dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm you brought with you to the company. The fun, joy, and your Giant smile at our company outings will never be forgotten. We are grateful of the time we spent together. Rest easy Marine, You are a hero to us, truly an American Patriot. Irving, You will always be greatly missed and greatly loved. I wish I was better at keeping touch over the last couple of years. I am so happy we were able to hang out in Tennessee last year. I knew right away when you hit the fleet we would get along just fine. It was good to have another obviously irishman in the platoon. It helped you were a great marine who also kept the morale high when it was miserable in the field. I am greatly sorry I will not be attending your services. Many from Kilo co and more are planning to meet up this summer and celebrate your life and the wonderful impact your made on our lives. Help us remember the happy memories we made with you. Keep watch over your family and marine corps family. I look forward to the day we are all united again. -Unus Supra and Semper Fi- I love you

I hope to tell a story that made such an impact on my life that I hope it provides comfort to the mourning family. I was a young marine going through SOI when I began to go through the usual feelings of doubt, unwillingness and no longer searching for motivation. What puzzled me was the rowdy redhead that would not stop messing with people 24/7 lol. It just so happened to be the same redhead that eventually split a cab fare with me to meet our girlfriend's during our liberty weekend. For once he and I got to just talk. He told me where he was from, about his family and most importantly, why he joined the Marine corps. I for one could already tell why this man decided to join the Marine Corps and that's because he wanted to lead just as I did. It is something all Marines yearn for and my deepest regret is not having Irving in my platoon during Afghanistan because I surely could have used him right next to me cracking jokes to cheer my sorry butt up. He was a brother and a formidable human being, I wish to honor his name and will tell stories to my grandchildren about people like Kevin Irving. Much love and grace in this hour of need. Please know he was loved by many, even if it was brief as School of Infantry
