Michael L. Diveris

On Monday, June 17, 2019, Michael Diveris, beloved husband and father, passed away at the age of 72.

Mike was born on March 30, 1947 in Jamestown, NY to Constance (Petro) Diveris. He received his Masters degree in teaching at Southampton College, and taught in the Hampton Bays School district from 1973 until his retirement in 2001. During his tenure there, he met his wife, Gail Schauder, whom he married on April 21, 1976. Together, they raised their only child, Leigh.

Mike was a football coach to the Hampton Bays Baymen and celebrated the anniversary of the team’s 1987 League Championship last year. He spent over 30 years as an ocean lifeguard in the town of Southampton, and most recently worked at Hampton Hills Country Club in their pro shop.

Mike loved to spend time golfing, enjoying wine and an occasional cigar, but most importantly he loved his wife, Gail, and daughter, Leigh. He was known for his kind heart, his love of storytelling, and his gregarious personality.
