A candle is the symbol of the human spirit and brings light to darkness. Your light will always shine bright in my heart and my soul, Dad. Continue to lead the way with your light dear father as I know you will always be near. I love you dearly, Patrick
Patrick J. McAuliffe left a message on January 15, 2019:
Dear Dad, The bond between a father and son is a profound and everlasting one. Upon your passing, a flood of memories engulfed me as to the many years we shared, the lessons you taught me and how you were so instrumental in shaping me into the man I am today. I have never backed down from a challenge. Because of you, I never will. You never had it easy in your life. The fear of being abandoned as a young boy when your mother became your sole parent and were left alone to care for yourself, the burden and extreme challenge of becoming a young father and bread winner while you were barely an adult yourself without any preparation or experience of what to do and how to do it, decades of hard work and sacrifice for your children which often went under appreciated or not acknowledged at all, certainly took its toll upon you. Although I told you quite often, I want to state, sadly, for the last time that you did a magnificent job even though as a boy I never quite understood your objectives. You did the very best with what you had and you gave your all. As I man, I am better able to see what a tremendous achievement you accomplished in your life. You created five skyscrapers out of nothing. You gave even when not asked, you guarded with your life and never for one moment left your post as a father and head of your family. I loved you dearly and I will miss you terribly. You were a man upon which I could rely. You often told me as a young boy that you were not my friend, you were my father. I am so grateful for that fact. Friends come and go. A father, a real father like yourself, can never be replaced. The loss is profound. But it is a loss that is inevitable. Such is life. I thank you so very much for the life you gave to me. I love you so much Dad. Thank you. Your son, Patrick
