Obituary of Ralph Charles Muckle Jr.

Sayville NY/Bonita Springs FL: Ralph C Muckle Jr, age 82, passed away in his sleep at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, NY on Saturday morning, November 2, 2019.

Calling hours will be held at Moloney Funeral Home, 1320 Lakeland Ave, Bohemia, NY 11716 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 2 – 4pm and from 7 – 9pm.  There will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations in his memory be made to the Brentwood Teachers Association Scholarship Fund, 350 Motor Parkway, Hauppauge, NY 11778.

Ralph was born in Bay Shore, NY on May 18, 1937, the son of the late Ralph Charles Sr and Lorna (Ade) Muckle.  On July 28, 1962, in Islip, NY, he and Sandra L. Dickerson were married.

A graduate of Union College in Schenectady NY, Ralph worked as a schoolteacher at Oak Park Elementary School in the Brentwood Public School District for 32 years.  In addition, Ralph administered the English as a Second Language Program at Brentwood’s Night High School for 25 years.  He and Sandy made a home for their family in Sayville NY, as well as a summer “camp” in Huntersland, NY.  Upon retirement, Ralph and Sandy wintered in Bonita Springs FL, at their second home in the Bonita Beach Mobile Home Village.  For 12 years, Ralph served on the Board of the Directors of BBMHV Inc, with six of those as President.

Among the many things he enjoyed were playing golf on Long Island and in Florida, and attending weekly stock-car races at Islip Speedway, and Riverhead Raceway.  Through the years, he’s fostered and maintained many relationships with those with whom he worked, traveled, played golf, attended races or just simply interacted.

Besides his wife, Sandy, he is survived by his sons, Craig (Anna MacDonald) and Gary (Kathy).  He was a proud and doting grandfather to Ryan, Colin, Emily and Teaghan.  He was loved and respected by his brother Richard (Susan), and his sister-in-law Linda Musante and all their children.
