Ruthanne O’Donnell

Ruthanne B O’Donnell 78, of Long Island NY transitioned to her eternal destination on May 28, 2020. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 26, 1941. Daughter of the late, Wade F and Gladys Bortle. Sister of the late Wade H Bortle and Frank B Bortle. She is now reunited with her late husband Daniel J O’Donnell and grandchild Casey. She is survived by her children Michael, Renee, Lisa, Deanna, Danny and William, her grandchildren Zoe, Jagger, Brayden, Maggie, Douglas and Colton.

Ruthanne was described as a warm, loving, consistent source of love by her nieces and nephews. She was a friend to the friendless, hope to the hopeless and an advocate to the weak. Ruthanne’s friends outnumbered her years and her love has been faithfully and fully deposited in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Ruthanne spent her days gardening, going to school, traveling, serving her community, laughing with her girlfriends, supporting and loving her children and grandchildren. She was loved by a multitude of people who grieve the loss of a legend.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations to be made to Maryhaven, Center of Hope, 51 Terryville Rd, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776 in support of her eldest son, Michael and his extended family
