Ryan was a really great friend I had the absolute privilege to know. He was such a kind-hearted person that really cared about his friends. We both wanted to go into research on tropical marine ecology. I am certain I am going down that path not only for me now but also for Ryan. I feel that is the best way I can honor him. The Salmon family will keep both him and his family in our prayers. Rest in peace Ryan.
Ali Stevens left a message on February 27, 2021:
Ryan, you will forever be one of the funniest people to walk into my life. You're not quite like anyone I have met before, and that's what makes you truly special to me. From eating your fancy ramen to petting swans to picking pumpkins and everything we did in between, I've never had a dull moment with you. Thank you for being a wonderful friend and for bringing so much happiness into my life. My deepest sympathies go out to all of Ryan's loved ones. Rest easy, Ryan.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Aaron Lewis left a message on February 27, 2021:
Ryan was a big reason why I wanted to be a dad. I first met him when I was young sailor stationed in Italy. Right away I realized that he was extraordinary. Hanging with him and Eric was always highly entertaining. I still haven’t met a kid that could make grownups laugh as much he could. It was his relationship with Eric that was the most inspiring, they had so much fun together. It was then and there I decided when I had a child of my own I wanted to emulate that relationship. As is often in the Navy, our path’s diverged and I only got to see glimpses of Ryan as he grew to be a man. I wish I told him how much he meant to me, but I will make sure my daughter’s know all about the amazing kid that made me want to be their dad.

I didn’t get to know Ryan for the longest time but the time I did I knew he had a beautiful soul. He was funny and everyone wanted to be around him. If you ever weren’t feeling your best he would be there and help make you smile. He was extremely smart and driven in his studies something that I admired very deeply about him. We had some good times and I’m happy I was able to be a part of his life if only for a short while. He changed everyone’s life for the better and will be deeply missed. My prayers are with his family through this very difficult time.
Tienna Avery left a message on February 27, 2021:

The Durie family is in my prayers and we will always talk about the funny and amazing memories with him .

Nick Siegel left a message on February 27, 2021:
Ryan, you are unlike anyone I have ever met before. As soon as I met you, you didn’t try to hide behind some fake persona or pretend like you were someone else, like many people do. This allowed me, for the first time in my life to be 100% myself with someone I had just met. This resulted in us and the Ally’s having some amazing memories together, from dancing on the beach, to carving funny pumpkins, to watching weird YouTube videos. Ryan, I can’t thank you enough for being my friend, and I am so glad I had the honor of knowing you. You will be so missed. Rest in peace.

Ryan you were loved by so many. You’re smile was contagious, you’re jokes were hysterical and you had a heart of gold. I first met you when you entered my second grade class when you first moved to Schuylerville. I was honored to be your teacher for a short time. Our paths crossed again at Amigos where we worked together and when I got to know and love your kind soul as you were growing and maturing into a young adult. I wish you only knew how much you’ll be missed! May you Rest In Peace ❤️

What a privilege it was to be around Ryan, while he was here. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't as close to him as I would've liked to have been, but it was beyond evident that he was kind and had an incredible mind. I'll celebrate his existence and remember him going forward. Thank you to his family for helping raise such a wonderful contribution to the world.
