Sandra "Sandy" D. Muckle

d. April 3, 2021

Sayville NY/Bonita Springs FL: Sandra D “Sandy” Muckle, age 81, passed away peacefully, with loved ones at her side, at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY on Saturday afternoon, April 3, 2021.

Calling hours will be held at Moloney Funeral Home, 1320 Lakeland Ave, Bohemia, NY 11716 on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5 – 9pm.  A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10am followed by a procession to her final resting place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Sandy was born Sandra Lee Dickerson in Bay Shore, NY on January 31, 1940, the daughter of the late Arthur Gilbert and Phyllis (Grotz) Dickerson.  On July 28, 1962, in Islip, NY, she and Ralph C. Muckle Jr. were married.

Sandy was a homemaker for much of her life, raising a family with Ralph in Sayville, as well as a summer “camp” in Huntersland, NY.  After graduating from Islip High School, she worked at the New York State Welfare Department, where she met Ralph.   In the early 1960s, she lived in New York City, and worked at the American Kennel Club, while studying modeling at the Barbizon school. In 1962, she returned to Long Island and married Ralph.  Over the next 30 years, she worked occasionally as a bank teller at Bay Shore Federal Savings & Loan and Riverhead Savings Bank, while making a home and raising two sons.  Upon their retirement, Sandy and Ralph wintered in Bonita Springs FL, at their second home in the Bonita Beach Mobile Home Village.  Sandy made many new friends during their winters in Florida.

Among the many things she enjoyed were spending time with loved ones, meeting new people and traveling, especially when her travels involved the sun, sand and water.  The beach was her special place, and she relished any time she could spend there.

Sandy was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph and her parents, Arthur and Phyllis.  She is survived by her sons, Craig (Anna MacDonald) and Gary (Kathy).  She was a proud and doting grandmother to Ryan, Colin, Emily and Teaghan.  She was cherished by her sister Linda (Frank) Musante, and loved by her brother-in-law Richard (Susan) and all their children.
