Tommy you were one of a kind. I am so saddened to hear of your untimely passing. You were a good friend and a good client. Its was pleasure to be your accountant and your friend. Although you were a mere NYPD cop rather than a NYC Transit PD cop like me you were worthy of being a Transit Cop and i don't say that to City cops as a general rule .LOL. Rest in peace my friend I will miss you but won't forget you.

Worked with Tommy in the 77, as time goes by, people move on, lose touch with each other. We would meet once a year at the 77 reunions, Tommy would greet you with a firm handshake, a big smile, a joke and a slap on the back. He commanded a room with his stories and humor. A very sad loss. Prayers to the Weil family in this difficult time. Rest In Peace Tommy, til we meet again.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Tommy & I went through NSU together, then we both were transferred to the 077 Pct. Over the years we would see eachother at Police Functions, & Reunions. We would always speak & have some laughs. This past Feb. My wife & I went to a Wedding out of State, & We hapenned too meet Tommy at the Airport in Baltimore. I saved a seat for him, & we spoke for about 2 hours. Real quality time. I Thank God for that because little did I know that would be the last time I saw him. Tommy always had a smile on his face. That's how I will always remember him. My Prayers are with Tommy, & his Family. God Bless Tommy, until we meet again.

Chris Drew left a message on July 11, 2019:
I am still in a state of utter shock disbelief and absolutely devastated . You were my best friend and I will cherish to my last days memories of the times spent together . I feel very comfortable saying the likes of Thomas E. Weil will never be seen again . You lit up every room you entered and you interpreted events and people in a way I have never heard before . Words like “priceless!” , “shocking” , “you don’t say “ and watching you interact with the public made it a can’t miss television show. It was The Tommy Weil show. You could go anywhere and Tommy knew someone there or an obscure filthy hole in the wall lbar and he would light up and say “ I drank there!” With a huge grin . He was a stickler for detail and doing it the correct way. What many don’t know was the quiet dedicated loyal side. The man that traveled regularly to cemeteries all over to put flowers on the graves of friends co workers and fallen military. He did so quietly and without fanfare . Many of these were people that passed were gone more than 40-50 years. One was Abraham Walton . He never knew Detective Walton or the family but every year on the anniversary of his Line of Duty Death in 1980 he would travel to Randall’s Island and lay flowers at his plaque . He was always wore a suit when he did this . He lay the flowers down said a prayer and quietly walked away. He took every passing of those injured at the World Trade Center very hard. He loved his family . He talked about all the time .He was over the moon when he found out Thomas Jr was transferred. Happy and proud don’t come close to describing what he felt that day last week. He said it was one of the best days of his life . He devotion and reverence for and to the NYPD and the USMC were unparalleled. My condolences to Lea Ann , Thomas Jr , his Brother Joe ( who he loved , respected and held in complete reverence ) and the rest of your family. I am a better person for knowing him and having him as my friend . My God Bless you Thomas

Lea Anne and Thomas I’m so sorry for your loss. Tommy would talk about you guys non stop and always with a smile. We worked together in 115 Sneu and in Pct for years. Tommy was one of the most competent people I ever worked with. As you know funny is a understatement. I didn’t get to work with Tommy in the Sqd him being in 105 and me in 115 but I’m positive when the Lt. wanted something done right because it had to be Tommy was the one he asked. Took so much pride in his work his appearance his family. He will be greatly missed by all. The day Tommy past away I was calling him because I had a question about the hanging of the American Flag. I’m like who is a better person to ask then Tommy. The funny thing is I knew I would get an answer and most important without a doubt the right answer. Such a smart guy. Tom you will be missed. #RIP
