Moloney's Holbrook Funeral Home
For more than four decades, Moloney’s Holbrook Funeral Home has been a steady source of care for families across Suffolk County. Opened in 1978 and located at 825 Main Street, our Holbrook location has long been woven into the fabric of this community and the neighboring towns around it. Generations of families have turned to Moloney’s during moments of loss, and we are honored to continue that tradition with compassion, professionalism, and respect.
From the beginning, our mission has been to help families create meaningful services that reflect the person they are honoring - while also providing the steady support that is needed during a difficult time. Whether your family is planning ahead or facing an immediate need, our experienced staff is here to guide you step-by-step, answer questions clearly, and handle the details with care.
Centrally Located and Easy to Reach
Convenience matters, especially when friends and family are traveling from multiple areas. Moloney’s Holbrook Funeral Home is centrally positioned between the Long Island Expressway and Sunrise Highway, making it easy to reach from across Long Island. Our facility is also accessible from other major roadways, helping guests arrive without unnecessary stress.
Families also appreciate the ample parking, which is especially helpful for larger gatherings and services with many visitors.
A Modern Facility Designed for Any Size Gathering
Our Holbrook funeral home is a modern facility created to accommodate services of all sizes - from quiet, intimate farewells to large gatherings that bring together extended family, friends, coworkers, and community members.
The building features three chapels, allowing for flexibility in scheduling and space. Each chapel is equipped with a coffee station, along with other amenities that help guests feel comfortable throughout the day. With seating for over 100 people, families can plan services confidently, knowing there is room for everyone who wants to attend.
The goal of our environment is simple: to provide a setting that feels calm, welcoming, and appropriate for remembrance.
Cemetery Coordination in Suffolk County and Beyond
Arranging a burial or interment often involves many moving pieces, including cemetery scheduling, permits, clergy coordination, and transportation. Our funeral directors have the experience to manage these logistics smoothly, so families can focus on what matters most.
Moloney’s Holbrook Funeral Home frequently works with local cemeteries such as:
- Bohemia Union Cemetery
- St. John Nepomucene Cemetery
- St. Lawrence The Martyr Cemetery
- Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
- Ronkonkoma Cemetery
In addition to these nearby cemeteries, our team regularly helps families with arrangements in Queens, Brooklyn, and other locations throughout the five boroughs. If your loved one’s final resting place is outside Suffolk County, we can still assist with coordination and planning to ensure everything is handled properly and respectfully.
Traditional Funeral Service With Burial
Many families choose a traditional burial service because it provides structure, familiarity, and meaningful moments of gathering. In most cases, a traditional funeral service with burial includes three main elements:
1) Visitation
Visitation provides an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share memories, and offer support. It can be arranged in a formal way or in a more relaxed setting depending on your family’s preferences. Many families incorporate prayer services, spoken tributes, or eulogies during this time. The schedule, setting, and tone can be adapted to reflect cultural traditions, faith, and personal wishes.
2) Funeral Service
The funeral service is most often held at a church, temple, or other place of worship. It usually takes place on the morning of the burial and can include readings, music, religious rites, and words of remembrance.
3) Burial
Burial takes place at the cemetery chosen by your family. A brief service led by clergy or your funeral director is typically held graveside, followed by a final farewell. Our staff will coordinate the cemetery details, transportation, and timing to help the day proceed smoothly.
There are also additional burial options that may be available depending on your family’s needs. Our funeral directors are always available to explain those choices and help you plan a service that honors your loved one with dignity.
Traditional Funeral Service With Cremation
Cremation is a choice many families make, but that does not mean they want to forgo ceremony. A traditional funeral service with cremation allows families to hold the same meaningful components of a traditional funeral, with cremation taking place afterward.
This option typically includes:
- A visitation
- A funeral service
- A committal service (with a casket present)
- Cremation following the committal
Families often appreciate this approach because it preserves the familiar experience of gathering, viewing, and honoring the person who has died. Each portion can be personalized to match your family’s wishes.
The committal service is a brief, respectful ceremony led by the funeral director prior to cremation. It is followed by a final goodbye. In many cases, this service takes place in the Tribute Center or Committal Garden located on the grounds of our Lake Ronkonkoma facility.
Memorial Services With the Urn Present
If cremation has already taken place, a memorial service can still offer the meaningful structure of a traditional funeral while providing greater flexibility. A memorial service may be held at the funeral home, a place of worship, an event space, or a location that holds personal significance.
These services can be formal or informal, and families choose the tone that feels right. In many cases, a visitation is held with the urn present so friends and relatives can gather, offer condolences, and share memories. Eulogies, music, and prayer services are often part of this time.
If requested, our funeral director can also escort your loved one’s urn to a place of worship and then to a cemetery for burial or placement.
Celebration of Life Services
Some families prefer a gathering that feels more uplifting in tone while still being meaningful and heartfelt. A celebration of life is a planned tribute that honors the journey of a person’s life and the memories they leave behind. These events may take place soon after a death or later on an anniversary or meaningful date.
Celebrations of life are often less structured than traditional services, and they provide room for unique details such as favorite music, photos, storytelling, and personal themes. The Tribute Center at Moloney’s is an ideal setting for hosting this kind of service.
After Cremation: Helping You Choose a Final Resting Place
After cremation, families may wonder what the next steps are. Our team helps guide you through the choices in a thoughtful and pressure-free way.
Many families choose to keep their loved one close in an urn. We offer a wide selection of urns and keepsakes, and after cremation is complete, our staff will arrange an appointment so you can bring your loved one home.
Other families prefer burial of cremated remains or placement in a niche at a cemetery. Our funeral directors can assist with those arrangements.
Some families feel comforted by scattering cremated remains at sea or in a meaningful place. We can help you understand local laws and guidelines and connect you with resources for scattering at sea.
Personalization: Creating a Tribute That Truly Reflects the Person
At Moloney Family Funeral Homes, we believe a funeral should reflect the individual - not a template. Our team specializes in creating tributes that highlight the unique story of the person being honored, including their passions, beliefs, accomplishments, and personality.
Families often choose meaningful touches such as:
- Custom Flowers & Gifts
- Photo Boards
- Memory Boards
- Memory Tables
- Chapel Themes (favorite color, holiday, sports team)
- Hobby or Collection Displays
- Sports Equipment Displays
- Military Displays
- Police/Firefighter Tributes
- Achievement or Trophy Tables
- Photo Albums throughout the Chapel
- Video Tributes
- Favorite food, drinks, or candy
- Favorite music
- Live musicians or bagpipers
- Motorcycle Hearse
- Butterfly or Dove Releases
If you’re unsure how to begin personalizing a service, we often recommend starting with memories: what they loved, what they were proud of, what they were known for, and what brought them joy. From there, our staff can help you transform those ideas into a service that feels sincere and unforgettable.
The Gathering of a Lifetime: Receptions and Catering
With nearly a century of experience, we understand something that families often feel but may not know how to say: gathering together after a service can be deeply healing.
Sharing a meal, sitting with relatives, and telling stories can offer comfort in a way that words sometimes cannot. Moloney’s can help arrange a reception with trusted local caterers and host it in our beautiful and spacious Tribute Center. Whether it’s a simple gathering or a larger reception, we will help you plan it with ease and care.
