Nearly 100 Years of Family Service in Long Island

“There’s nothing more rewarding than being able to care for a family during a really difficult time,” says Moloney Family Funeral Homes Co-owner Peter Moloney. Peter, along with his brother, Co-owner Daniel Moloney Jr., comes from a long line of funeral care professionals, beginning with their grandfather, James P. Moloney, who founded Moloney Funeral Home in 1933. Since then, families have traveled from all over New York so our staff here at Moloney can assist with their funeral, cremation, and burial needs.

Moloney-Family Ownership-2What started as a single, conveniently located facility in Central Islip has expanded to locations in Lake Ronkonkoma, Holbrook, Port Jefferson Station, Bohemia, Center Moriches, and Hauppauge. This kind of expansion doesn’t happen by chance. It happens because generations of families appreciate the trustworthy, personal service they receive and have come to count on us during their time of need.

Since establishing the first funeral home on Carleton Avenue in Central Islip, Founder James Moloney’s work ethic and values passed down to his son, F. Daniel Moloney Sr., who continued the legacy of helping those around them. Peter and Daniel saw their father’s and grandfather’s professionalism and love for area families – what has since been dubbed “The Moloney Difference” – and continue offering the highest quality service while giving back to the community.

The Moloney Difference continues with the next generation, as Daniel Moloney Jr.’s daughter Danielle Hassett, Peter Moloney’s son Connor Moloney, and Daniel and Peter’s nephew Nicholas Wheeler are carrying on the family tradition. These three cousins are all licensed funeral directors dedicated to giving the same level of care they’ve seen their family provide for decades before them.

For all of us at Moloney Family Funeral Homes, serving our friends and neighbors in Long Island isn’t a job; it’s a passion and a calling. Our team’s efforts have been recognized many times over by the National Funeral Directors Association, who has given us the highest honor possible: The Pursuit of Excellence Award.

From 1933 to today, we have specialized in telling the story of a life, offering more personalization options than other funeral homes in the area while still keeping costs reasonable. We provide traditional funeral and cremation services families find familiar and comforting, while constantly innovating to make funeral planning a more meaningful and less complicated experience.

Our team is well versed in funeral traditions of all faiths and backgrounds and has relationships with all area clergy. We also have Spanish-speaking professionals on staff, and the wonderful addition of grief therapy dog Kota who has a unique way of putting people at ease even as they feel stress or sadness.

Years ago, F. Daniel Moloney said, “There is no higher reward than the trust of the people you serve.” Peter and Daniel Moloney Jr. agree and are committed to meeting every family’s needs with precision. Don’t hesitate to stop by one of our locations, or reach out anytime online or by phone.
