5 Creative Ways to Show Love to the Special People in Your Life

mkj • Feb 11, 2020

Every day, we help families who have experienced loss – and this gives us a unique perspective on life. Owner Daniel Moloney Jr. along with the rest of our caring staff don’t take relationships for granted. We understand the fragility of life. After all, for nearly a century , our family here at Moloney Family Funeral Homes has invested in our community by helping neighbors with their funeral , cremation , and burial needs, and this role constantly reminds us to hold our loved ones close.

That’s why, this month, we want to offer our blog readers a few ways to express love to the special people around you. Showing love doesn’t have to be expensive or involve a grand gesture. After all, building relationships isn’t about the “big things”; it’s about the countless “little things” that happen day after day, month after month, year after year. Read on for ideas to show how much you care.

  1. Surprise your loved one with a fun activity that’s out of the ordinary.

Experiencing an unusual activity together will add some spice to the ordinary. Attend a concert or sporting event, go bowling or skating, take a day trip and try a new restaurant – anything that shakes things up in an interesting way.

  1. Frame and gift a meaningful photo.

We see how displaying beautiful photos of a loved one at a funeral adds a personal touch and is an impetus for stories and conversation. Framing a photo of someone special who has died, of a place you’ve visited, or of a special group of people will mean a lot to your loved one. It’s a keepsake that can be enjoyed for years to come.

  1. Write an “old-fashioned” letter describing why your relationship is special.

This might sound inconvenient or unnecessary when you can send a text, make a phone call, or post on social media. But using a pen and a piece of paper to express your thoughts gives your loved one the opportunity to enjoy your sentiments in your unique handwriting. Texts and emails come at us by the dozens or even hundreds, but a hand-written note takes thoughtfulness to a whole new level.

  1. Stock their kitchen with their favorite foods and drinks.

Opened fridge from the inside full of vegetables, fruits and othFor most of us, there are only a few people who know our go-to snacks, candy, and beverages. The next time you’re at the store, pick up treats you know your loved one will enjoy.

  1. Talk about what their “best day” would look like and make it happen.

If your loved one quickly describes wanting to snorkel in the Caribbean or hike Mount Everest, feel free to talk about more realistic options! We’re thinking along the lines of eating at a favorite restaurant, and participating in a favorite activity. Figuring out their best day and then enjoying it together is an easy way to bring a smile and let them know how much they are loved.

We hope these ideas have inspired you to show the special people in your life just how much you care. We also hope that you remember you can always turn to us during life’s difficult times. Moloney Funeral Homes has been family owned for over 75 years , and we understand the importance of family. Call or stop by anytime you need a helping hand.
